I suspected the problem is something like this as I can hit the dash in just such a way that it flickers on and back off again. This is what I did in my acura mdx 2002. It was probably not starting, thinking it was the battery but it wasnt. This morning my wife could get the navigation system to come on. Add this bolt with no pressure connect the battery and check if the unit is bright if not screw the plastic bolt in little by little until you get the screen bright. Then put the seat all the way back and remove the 1o mm nuts on the side brackets of the unit and pull it forward. They will not repair the unit by replacing just the defective components like we do in tv and vcr repair. What I did to make sure it lights up. Note: It might require programming after repairing or replacing the unit.
